Khaled ben slimane

Ceramicist and painter Khaled Ben Slimane was born in 1951 in Tunisia, where he lives today.

He studied at the Fine Arts and Architecture School of Tunis and the Escuela Massana in Barcelona.

His numerous solo exhibitions include “From Earth to the Sky - Ceramics and paintings”, curated by Badischen Landsmuseums, which travelled to five museums in Germany (2004-2005); and also solo shows at Seto City Art Museum, Japan (2005); the Museu de Ceramica de Barcelona (2001); the Leighton House Museum (1995); and The National Museum of Literature, Prague and Bratislava
(1989). He has also featured in numerous group exhibitions and biennials worldwide, in Spain, Beijing, Australia, London and the Middle East. His works can be found in many private and public collections, including the British Museum and the Museum of Mankind, both in London, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.

Among his numerous awards are the National Cultural Award of Tunisia; the International Grand Prize
of Ceramics in Vietri sul Mare, Italy (2002); the Metiers d’Arts, Biennale of the Ardennes, Belgium (1998); and the Honour Prize at the 3rd Worldwide Triennial of Ceramics in Zagreb (1991). In 1990, he was elected member of the Academy of Ceramics (UNESCO), Geneva, Switzerland.
