Susan Hefuna: X Cultural Codes

Multimedia artist Susan Hefuna is half Egyptian, half German, and lives and works between both countries. She has exhibited widely internationally, and is the subject of several publications. Whether creating drawings, photographs, video, sculptures, installations or mashrabiya screens, much of Hefuna’s work explores her dual heritage and features images of local culture, family, interior spaces, and cityscapes in and around Cairo. This comprehensive introduction to her work was published to accompany Xcultural Codes, a traveling exhibition between the Heidelberger Kunstverein in Germany and the Liverpool Biennial, UK.
