Published to coincide with a festival of Iranian cinema curated by Rose Issa at London’s National Film Theatre in 1999. This is the first English language publication to cover the history and development of Iranian film and to analyse contemporary Iranian film and film-makers, including Abbas Kiarostami, Abolfazl Jalili, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Bahram Bayzai, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Sohrab Shahid Saless and Dariush Mehrjui.
